If members are renewed by mistake this can be reversed, but each member needs to be changed individually. The renewal date of the members affected needs to be reset and the ledger entry removed.
Note that if the renewal date on the membership record was changed by mistake then only step 3 is needed (but check the Ledger to be sure).
- Go to the Ledger (by account) and note the membership numbers of those renewed by mistake - these should be the most recent entries. If there were loads of them then go to "Data Export & Backup" and click "Finance ledger with detail" to get them into a spreadsheet.
- Now go through the ledger entries for the mistaken renewals and delete them.
- Next, go through each member and change their renewal date year back a year. The now-deleted ledger entry link may still be there, but this sorts itself out. Don't forget to save each member record.
It will be slightly easier to go from a ledger entry in step 2 to a member record by launching the member record in a new browser tab. Then change the renewal year, save it, and closing the tab. Finally, delete the ledger entry and move on to the next ledger entry, and repeat.
